International Women's Day | March 8th

 International Women's Day -March 8th

A Salute to Women: International Women's Day Remembrance

Every year on March 8th, the world comes together to celebrate International Women's Day, a day dedicated to honouring women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. One of the key aspects of International Women's Day is celebrating the achievements of women in various fields, including politics, business, science, and the arts. It is a day to recognize the contributions that women have made to society and to acknowledge the barriers that they have overcome to achieve success.

How this Day Chosen?

The choice of March 8th as International Women's Day has historical roots and is tied to the early 20th-century labour and women's rights movements. The first National Women's Day was celebrated in the United States on February 28, 1909, in honour of the 1908 garment workers' strike in New York, where women protested against working conditions.

In 1910, at the International Conference of Working Women held in Copenhagen, Clara Zetkin, a German activist, proposed the idea of an International Women's Day. She suggested that it should be celebrated on the same day in every country to advocate for women's rights and suffrage. The proposal was met with unanimous approval, and the first International Women's Day was celebrated on March 19, 1911, in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland, with rallies and events advocating for women's rights to work, vote, and hold public office.

In 1913, Russian women observed their first International Women's Day on February 23 (March 8 in the Gregorian calendar), to protest World War I and advocate for peace. This date became the official date for International Women's Day in Russia and many other countries, and eventually, in 1977, the United Nations officially recognized March 8th as International Women's Day.

Women's Achievements:

Women have made significant strides in various fields, breaking barriers and achieving remarkable milestones. In science and technology, we have seen women leading groundbreaking research, developing innovative technologies, and making discoveries that have advanced our understanding of the world. One such Women Dr. Katie Bouman, who played a key role in capturing the first image of a black hole, and Dr. Swati Mohan, who led the guidance and control operations for the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover landing, are just a few examples of the many women who are making waves in the field of STEM.

Women's Strength:

Women's strength goes beyond their professional achievements. It is evident in the way they juggle multiple roles and responsibilities, often sacrificing their own needs for the well-being of their families and communities. In a world that often underestimates their power, women have consistently proven their resilience and strength. From the quiet strength of a mother nurturing her family to the boldness of a leader challenging the status quo, women embody strength in myriad ways. It is seen in the way they navigate challenges, overcome obstacles, and stand tall in the face of adversity. This strength is not just physical but also mental, emotional, and spiritual. It is the strength to persevere, to advocate for change, and to inspire others. As we celebrate International Women's Day, let us honour and celebrate the strength of women everywhere, acknowledging the profound impact they have on the world.

Faithful Women in the Bible:

In the Bible, women are often portrayed as living holy lives through their faith, actions, and devotion to God. One example is the story of Mary, the mother of Jesus, who is revered for her obedience and humility. In Luke 1:38, Mary responds to the angel Gabriel's announcement by saying, "I am the Lord’s servant. May your word to me be fulfilled." This shows her complete trust in God's plan for her life.

The Bible speaks of many remarkable women whose stories inspire us even today. One such woman is Esther, whose courage and faith saved the Jewish people from destruction. Esther 4:14 recounts Mordecai's words to Esther: "And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?" This verse reflects the idea that women have the power to make a significant impact in their societies.

Another inspiring woman from the Bible is Ruth, known for her loyalty and devotion. Ruth 1:16-17 expresses her dedication to her mother-in-law Naomi: "Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God." Ruth's story reminds us of the importance of loyalty, compassion, and resilience.

Women are Essentials to God's Plan:

The Bible teaches us that women are not only capable of great things but are also essential to God's plan for the world. In Proverbs 31, we read about the virtuous woman whose worth is far above rubies, whose strength and dignity are her clothing, and whose wisdom and kindness are her hallmarks.

As we honour the achievements of women today, let us also remember the words of Proverbs 31:30, "Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." May we continue to draw inspiration from these biblical women and strive to emulate their faith and strength in our own lives. Happy International Women's Day to all the women who are making a difference in the world!

             கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுகிற ஸ்திரீயே புகழப்படுவாள்

Happy International Women's Day to all the incredible women who inspire, lead, and make a difference every day!
Your strength, courage, and compassion are an inspiration to us all

The Epiphany | பிரசன்ன திருநாள் | Jan 6th

The Epiphany பிரசன்ன திருநாள் Beyond the Starry Night: Unwrapping the Epiphany's Timeless Wisdom Epiphany, also known as the Feast of the Epiphany or Three Kings' Day, holds a special place in the Christian calendar, marking the manifestation of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles. This festival, celebrated on January 6th, carries profound biblical significance, rooted in the Gospel of Matthew (Matthew 2:1-12). The biblical narrative of Epiphany revolves around the visit of the Magi, or Wise Men, to the infant Jesus. These wise scholars from the East follow the star that leads them to Bethlehem, inquiring,  "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?  We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him"  (Matthew 2:2).   This question not only recognizes Jesus as a king but also reveals divine guidance through the star's appearance. Epiphany is a powerful reminder of the universal nature of Jesus' mission. By accepting the homage of the Wise M...

Why "k" Used to Represent Constants?

In mathematics and physics, constants are fundamental values that remain unchanged and have fixed numerical values. One common notation for representing constants is the letter "k." But why specifically "k"? Let's explore the historical, practical, and cultural reasons behind this choice. Historical Origins The use of "k" to represent constants can be traced back to the early days of mathematics and physics notation. The letter "k" likely originated from the German word "Konstante" or the Latin word "constantia," both meaning "constant." German mathematicians and physicists have made significant contributions to these fields, and their influence on notation is notable. Versatility and Availability One reason "k" is commonly used is its versatility and availability in the Latin alphabet. It is not frequently used for other purposes in mathematics or physics, making it a convenient choice for deno...
